Univision Arizona put together this feature highlighting our commitment to inspire the next generation of Latino journalists in Arizona. It highlights our annual high school journalism workshop as well as the scholarships we provide aspiring media professionals.
Each year, ALMA welcomes dozens of high school students from across Arizona in a full-day workshop at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University's downtown campus. This signature event reiterates ALMA's commitment to supporting the next generation of journalists. Since the first workshop 27 years ago, more than two thousand high school students have attended, many of those students have continued their education at the Cronkite School and have gone on to careers in journalism, public relations and other media.
We are now accepting applications for schools who would like to bring a group of students to our next workshop, which will be held on March 6, 2026. Read more here.
Since 2003, ALMA has awarded more than $95,000 in scholarships. The spring 2026 scholarship application is now open. Apply here.
